Wanting to be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon. With school cancelled for the week, our girls asked to take a trip with friends. Like millions of Texans, our family lost heat and power too. Our homes are freezing and our lights are out. We have food lines, gas lines, and people sleeping at neighbors’ houses. After he presumably thought that no one would notice he’d boarded a commercial flight to Cancún as Texas was in the grips of a catastrophic power outage, the senator’s little getaway had become major news, the news being that an elected official literally abandoned millions of his constituents, some of whom were freezing to death, to go on a beach vacation. On Thursday afternoon Ted Cruz’s back was against the wall.
